A step in the right direction on factory farming

The New York Times had this story, "Farmers Lean to Truce on Animals' Tight Quarters" Wednesday, and at first I felt optimistic. Reading deeper, though, the scope feels so limited. And they have 15 years to phase out those cages for pregnant pigs in which they can't turn around. Fifteen years is a lot more time for suffering. But then I have to remind myself: baby steps.

Raising food animals on pasture: better for the animals, the soil, the water and the air.
